In the words of Bob Gaudio, ‘Oh, what a night!’
Last night we performed our first of two support sets for Fish’s Farewell Tour at the historic and truly majestic London Palladium. And blimey, was it special!!
It was such an overwhelming feeling standing out on the stage during soundcheck and taking in the beautiful architecture and rich history of the building. Staring out at the tiers and stalls of empty seats I certainly felt daunted, but as we ran through sections of our set I felt incredibly honoured to have the opportunity to perform my songs in a venue that has held the biggest names of British and International musical talent for over 100 years! As soon as we walked out to begin at 19:30 I was so touched by how many audience members had come in early to watch our set- and we were met with so much support and attentiveness throughout the set that it was impossible to let the nerves win- and myself and the band all had a fantastic time!
This gig marked our debut as a band, and what a debut!! I am so thankful to Gavin Dean (Guitar), Liam Larkin (Bass) and Jack Kircher (Cajon) for making these songs come to life and creating such a wonderful atmosphere for our performance. It was the most indescribable thrill to be able to hear the audience’s reception to songs that have never been performed as a band before, and a feeling that I will remember for the rest of my life.
After the set I went to watch Fish’s performance and.. WOW!
It was so magical to see songs I’ve known for a long time as well as some of the newer material I’m less familiar with performed in such a compelling and emotional way. This combined with the masterful playing by the band and awesome visuals created an unforgettable show. Both ‘Kayleigh’ and ‘Lavender’ were included in the encore which I realised I’d never heard live before and I loved belting them out with the crowd. Such an incredible evening and a truly joyous experience.
And guess what… we get to do it all again on Friday! If you’re coming to the Aylesbury show we’ll be on at 19:30 for our set, and will be there to watch the rest of the show, so do come and say hello!
See you there!!
